In late July 2023, the Ballance team lost a team member in a sudden and tragic accident.
All of our team has been impacted by this death, particularly his immediate team and across the entire co-operative.
The Court appearance in Tauranga will deal with the legal formalities, however given our ongoing contact with the family we are choosing not to name the worker – simply out of respect for the family’s wishes.
We have fully co-operated with WorkSafe NZ during its lengthy investigation. Ballance is committed to recognising any failures and learning from this tragedy wherever we can.
We have put a number of additional measures and new training programmes in place to ensure an incident like this does not happen again.
