Calling all aspiring agricultural industry students - win a $4000 Ballance scholarship

Ballance Agri-Nutrients (Ballance) is calling on all aspiring tertiary students wanting a future in agriculture to apply for one of its four $4,000 scholarship.

Since 2003, through the assistance of a financial boost, Ballance has been encouraging talented students to carve out a future in the primary sector.

Ballance General Manager, Sheena Henderson, says agriculture is an exciting place to be, almost all the global mega trends are being worked on in the primary sector.

Farmers and growers are increasingly being challenged with how to produce enough food for a rapidly increasing global population, and at the same time, protect our natural environment.

Ballance, a farmer and grower owned co-operative, is guided by the principle of Kaitiakitanga. Ballance with Nature is our philosophy of how we are supporting our customers to be future-ready - working with nature, caring for our natural resources, continuing to be sustainably productive.

Internationally New Zealand leads the way in sustainable farming and growing, and we want to maintain this position by encouraging the next generation to join the industry.

There are few other industries that provide so many diverse challenges and opportunities for bright and creative minds to apply their skills, career opportunities include on-farm advisers, agri-tech specialists, process engineers, food scientists, chemists, production and project managers, accounting, marketing and innovation experts.

“We need people who are able to apply critical thinking to join New Zealand’s agricultural team. This is there chance to make a difference, helping to build a sustainable primary sector that protects our unique natural resources.

“On behalf of Ballance I want to encourage ambitious students pursuing a career in agricultural and related industry to apply for a 2023 scholarship.”

“As our biggest sector, the country, communities and businesses involved with agriculture, including Ballance, rely on future generations to continue the success of the industry,” says Sheena.

To apply a student must be studying a field related to agri-business, horticulture or the primary sector – this is not limited to on-farm and farm advisory roles. Student’s whose applications are successful can apply for their scholarship to renew for up to three years.
