Fill that Gap

A three part Q and A series

With challenging conditions around most of New Zealand this season, we know that winter feed crop yields are lower than expected. Also with increased stock on hand due to decreased throughput at the works, winter crops may have been grazed earlier than expected. Couple this with a fast approaching winter, could mean that you are short of feed or potentially have bare soil exposed moving into the wetter cooler months.

Join us for a three part Q and A series looking in to catch and cover cropping, how you can establish it from the air and a “how-to” on helicropping.

Learn about how:
  • Catch/cover cropping can help fill a winter/spring feed shortage
  • Capture excess nutrients post forage crop grazing and retain soil on the land
  • How farmers have established catch and cover crops successfully from the air
  • Economics of helicropping and its impact on farm systems
  • Step by step on how to successfully helicrop.

The Q and A series will be occurring on:

This series is part of a Sustainable Farming Fund Project looking at helicropping, farm system fit and developing tools and advice around helicropping. For more information on the project click here.
