  • Fertilisers and plants

Once nutrients enter the soil, whether in fertilisers or through other means, they can become available for plant uptake. For this to occur successfully, the nutrient needs to be in a form that can enter the plant. In addition, the nutrient needs to be physically close to the plant roots in order to be taken up. The articles in this section describe the various ways that nutrients are taken up by plants, how they are used by plants, and the consequences of insufficient nutrient availability.
